I have been pretty silent since the release of the first two Christopher Daring books:
Spirits of the Dead & The Forest of Riddles
Can you believe that was nearly 5 years ago? After the book signing on the 6th October 2018, I became immediately immersed in the next instalment and the promoting of the current books.
And finally, in January 2022 last year, I finished the third book in the series. “So what was the delay?” I hear you cry. Well, it was a combination of researching and writing the next manuscript and trying to promote what I had already written.
It is quite the waiting game if you want to be picked up by a literary agent and publisher. So I was wrapped up for a while trying to get this new book, and the subsequent series, into the mainstream system. It is still ongoing, so we shall see. If I feel that it is taking too long, I shall self-publish this latest addition on Amazon and go from there.
And as you may have spotted from the book image above (if you have been on the website at all over the last year), that the name of the book recently changed. I decided to update it from: “The Steampunk Spiders” to “The Secret Puzzle Box.”

Late one night during a dramatic lightning storm, Christopher Daring is unexpectedly visited by two giant and deadly mechanical spiders. And, as unearthly enemies begin closing in, Christopher is sent out of the area to stay with his eccentric old aunt, Vassilissa, in her Gothic mansion home.
But the area is anything but safe, as someone or something, seems to be watching over their every move. With the help of secret tunnels and passageways, code-breaking and puzzle-solving, clairvoyants and sign language, they finally begin to outmanoeuvre their mysterious foe.
Accompanied by his friends, Christopher has to face deadly perils whilst trying to work out complex clues hidden within a new and challenging riddle, in his attempt to bring him one step closer to finding his missing father and brother.
However, plagued by strange and unusual creatures, which lurk and linger in the darkest corners, a worried Christopher begins to question just what demonic forces could possibly control such twisted souls.
But when he is introduced to an incredible world of technological possibilities, wonder and hope become his new strength.
